2008 Movies on the Beach

Movies on the Beach are BACK!! Make plans to pack your snacks and bring a blanket or lawn chairs to enjoy family-friendly movies at the park.

August 16 - Mill Creek Park

The movie will begin at dusk.

Each event is weather permitting.

Over 350 visitors of all ages enjoyed watching eagles at the Eagle Watch on March 1st.

Wings and Wetlands in O’Brien County

Bird and wildlife viewing opportunities are the center of attention at this year’s 14th Annual Wings and Wetlands Festival on May 10 & 11. Check out the slate of activities planned in O’Brien County!

Enjoy some coffee, juice and rolls before hitting the birding trail with expert, Lee Schoenewe. Lee makes birding a memorable experience for all. Meet at the Prairie Heritage Center at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.

A pair of trumpeter swans will be released at the Bruegmann Wildlife Area, 4 miles east of Hartley and 1/2 mile north on 100th Ave. Bring your camera! You are sure to want a picture as everyone in the crowd is invited to touch the juvenile birds before they are released onto the water. This event will take place on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

Learn about a new program called Watchable Wildlife of Northwest Iowa. Visit three glacial landscape and prairie history sites in O’Brien County on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Meet at the Prairie Heritage Center. On Sunday, another field trip to three pothole birding and wetland sites will depart from the Lost Island Prairie Wetland Center in Ruthven at 1:00 p.m.

Do you want to experience the family movie spirit before the summer “Movies on the Beach” start? Bring your blankets (chairs will be available too) to the Prairie Heritage Center for an indoor “Movie on the Carpet”. This family flick will have a birding theme! The show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
